Rich Woman Book Cover
LOCAL ADDY WINNER 2015
The Rich Woman book cover was designed following the prompt to take a song that tells a story and design a book around the narrative. Rich Woman (particularly the version by Robert Plant and Alision Krauss) tells the story of a young man who has found himself a "sugar mama."
1 — Two dust jackets are used to create the book cover; the first, an outer velum cover, has the black text, barcode and logos printed on it.
2 — The second dust jacket includes the greenish-blue coloring as well as the silhouette of a woman, seeming to press up against the frosted outer velum wrapper, inducing a sense of naughty playfulness and mystery, qualities of the song's Rich Woman.
3 — A detailed look at the woman's silhouette reveals that she is, in fact, made from hundreds of dollar symbols. The song's singer seems to care for little anything besides the Rich Woman's money and I wanted the imagery to, in the end, suggest a similar sentiment.
